Committing to your routine is essential to achieve desired results for your skin. A similar example would be your doctor prescribing you antibiotics. You are to take it for the full duration, say for 2 weeks. You only take it for a few days and feel better, then stop taking the medication, and afterwards, you get sick again. You tell your doctor it isn’t working and the first question to you would be, “Have you been taking your daily prescribed dosage?” Medicine is not instantaneous. If you do not take the medication correctly, it won’t help you. Keeping up with your cleansing routine is a similar experience. Your skin will thank you for staying with the routine.
My morning routine is noticeably shorter than my night routine. All product/stock photos belong to Bare Escentuals.
First I use 1 pump of the Purifying Facial Cleanser combined with the Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser. I rub in between my hands with some water to make a “paste.” I noticed that my face felt dry if I were to use Exfoliating alone, but I still wanted to be rid of my dead skin cells. I use Purifying because according to BE, “this formula leaves skin feeling perfectly clean, instantly hydrated.” I massage the new combined cleanser all over my face and clean with warm water. Remember, hot water strips away the protective oils of your skin and will leave it dry. Then pat dry with towel to prevent more essentials oils from being stripped away.
Next of course is the moisturiser. I use the Purely Nourishing Moisturizer: Normal to Dry Skin. It has a light feel, absorbs quickly (and I am able to use it touch up any dry patches when I have my foundation on).
Since I have redness on my cheeks, nose, a bit on the forehead, I apply Redness Remedy after my face moisturiser is dry. I know it might not work for everyone (as seen in the reviews) but you never know until you try. Then I apply sunscreen (I use Neutrogena Broad Spectrum SPF 100).
Though if you want to combine the moisturiser and sunscreen steps, you can also use Advanced Protection SPF 20 Moisturizer: Normal to Dry Skin. Since we are on the subject of SPF, use Broad Spectrum of at least SPF 15 on any exposed skin, be it your neck, chest, arms, etc. It is beneficial in keeping you healthy inside and out. If you don’t believe me, ask an expert.
The Purifying Facial Cleanser is good for makeup removal. Though if I am wearing waterproof mascara, I tend to use the Neutrogena makeup wipes beforehand. After cleansing and pat drying with towel, I use the Intensive Glow Pads Brightening Treatment to help me remove any makeup still left on my skin, as well as dead skin cells, and softens my redness.
You will feel a little tingle on your skin but that is normal. With continuous use, your skin will get used to it. I suggest using it every 3 days and see how your skin feels within the first 2 weeks. Then build up by adding 1 more day until eventually, you are using it every night. The Glow Pads will make your skin sensitive to sunlight so please remember your SPF!
I use the Active Cell Renewal Night Serum to add a boost of hydration to the skin. My skin feels unbelievably soft in the morning.
My moisturiser for the night would be the Purely Nourishing Cream: Dry Skin.
It is a bit richer than the Normal to Dry. You do not need a lot of product and it keeps my skin hydrated overnight quite well. In the morning, I may use it on some dry spots.
One more area to moisturise, the eyes! I use the Renew & Hydrate Eye Cream. I mainly pat a little with my ring finger under the eye. If you need a little more help in that area more of course you can use it over the eyelid.
Once again, I use Redness Remedy. Using it twice a day continuously, my redness does not look intense anymore (granted the Glow Pads could’ve helped a bit too).
